15 best coworking spaces in Barcelona

If you’re planning a trip to the land of flamenco, fiesta, Don Quixote, and afternoon naps, you’re bound to make a stop in Barcelona. And how could you not? As the largest city of Catalonia, it contains a plethora of attractions unique to the region.

If it sounds great so far, it’s because it is. But here’s the catch—you mustn’t let the many charms of Barcelona distract you. If you’re a digital nomad or you’re traveling for work, you have to make sure you’re productive enough. It’s easy to get lost in the moment and forget about your worries and responsibilities, but your trips depend on your ability to work hard even when you find yourself in such a beautiful place.

So, what’s the best way to keep your head in the game? From our experience, a motivating coworking space is the most efficient way to keep your feet on the ground and get down to work. Unfortunately, in a city this popular, coworking spaces grow like mushrooms, and it may be challenging to pick the best option. To save you some trouble, we’ve compiled a list of the most productive and charming coworking spaces in each neighborhood of Barcelona.

We think that La Vaca is the coolest place to cowork in Barcelona

Source: La Vaca

If you care about the atmosphere as much as you want to get some work done, La Vaca is the place for you. The vibe is incredibly positive, and this coworking space boasts a colorful community of about 60 members of different profiles and nationalities. If you’re a social person, you’ll quickly find a new bosom friend or two here. The space organizes community lunches and drinks, events, and workshops every week. If you happen to be there at the right time, you may enjoy a Paella Day or some other fun event. Vaqueros—the community members—even have their own sports team!

Location is another benefit of this coworking space. La Vaca (The Cow) is set up at a place that used to be a dairy shop—hence the name—and you can find it in the center of Poble Sec.

Even though the community in La Vaca is an unusually cheerful one, you’d be mistaken to think that the environment is anything but productive. The people who cowork there stick to the same idea—to play hard, you first have to work hard. This is one of the most conducive-to-work places we’ve visited so far.

Many things in La Vaca can make your life easier. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable. Seating is nice and comfy, with bean bags, Bosu ball chairs, and ergonomic chairs.

There is a relatively large kitchen equipped with a microwave oven, a regular oven, espresso machine, a fridge, and everything else that can help you stay properly nourished while you work. Tea and coffee are free.

The chill-out area is in the basement, and it includes a pool table. There is a library and, more importantly, a nap room. Siesta is a serious thing in Spain, and you know, when in Rome…

You can take your dog with you, which should boost the quality of your life immensely. People who don’t have canine companions don’t really get the struggle of having to leave your four-legged buddy for a half a day, every day. La Vaca understands your troubles and is there to make you and your pup a little happier.

When it comes to extra equipment, there are:

  • Projectors
  • Professional lighting equipment
  • Microphones
  • Chromecast
  • Printing equipment

All things considered, La Vaca is an awesome coworking place, so make sure you give it a shot!

Regus is our least favorite place to cowork in Barcelona

Source: Regus

Regus can be found at 12 locations in Barcelona:

  • 22 Aroba
  • 22 Arroba Mar
  • Diagonal Glorias 22@
  • Diagonal Hightech 22@
  • Gran Via
  • Diagonal
  • Sarria Forum
  • Plaza Catalunya
  • Sants Station
  • World Trade Centre
  • Mas de Roda
  • Mas Blau

Regus is our least favorite coworking space in Barcelona because of the lack of transparency when it comes to pricing.

Regus doesn’t have a clear pricing scheme. The price of their services depends on the location in question. Alone, this lack of clarity wouldn’t be that much of an issue—but you never know what is included in the price and what is not.

One of the benefits of buying services from large companies such as this one is the fact that you expect your membership to allow you access to all—or at least multiple—locations. Sadly, this is not always the case with Regus. In addition, some locations include additional benefits, such as free coffee or the freedom to use their printing equipment free of charge. Other locations charge extra for those little perks. This inconsistency is the crucial downside of Regus, and it makes us pretty unwilling to cowork there.
