Check out these 9 best coworking spaces in Vietnam

Vietnam is quickly rising in popularity among digital nomads and people looking for a permanent place to move to in east Asia. Previously overlooked for popular nearby countries of Thailand, Malaysia, and even Japan, recent economic and technological prosperity put major cities of this region on all remote worker maps.

More and more jobs are moving out of big, expensive offices, and into people’s living spaces. Both companies and workers see a mutual benefit:

  • Businesses save on money on space, office supplies, and regular maintenance
  • Individuals enjoy the freedom to work from wherever they feel most comfortable and are close to or at home

Recently, coworking spaces have started to become more popular and requested. They bring a new dynamic of relaxed working and socializing, without the added pressures of either. Previously, what was holding Vietnam back was relatively low average internet speeds (5 Mbps). However, major cities have significantly upped their game with the increase in popularity of online gaming, streaming services, and coworking, among other things.

Our favorite coworking cities in Vietnam

Before we show you the best coworking spaces, we have to talk about the best areas to station yourself in. We’ll give you three major locations across the country and list three amazing, and one bad coworking space to know about in each. Our top cities are:

HanoiThe capital city
Ho Chi Minh CityThe largest city packed with digital nomads
Da NangA less crowded, coastal city

Best (and worst) coworking spaces in Hanoi

Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam and a force rapidly rising on the global economic map. Like many cities in this situation, Hanoi is suffering from its own success. The city center and major business districts are booming, but so are the prices. While many come to the city to find success in their business or career, it’s getting harder for the average Vietnamese citizen.

There’s an obvious gap in development between rural and inner-city areas. That being said, people working in modern industry sectors such as IT, marketing, finance, and similar have great opportunities waiting for them in Hanoi. Here are the coworking spaces worth the mention:

  1. Toong Embassy
  2. CoGo Viet Tower
  3. UP@VPBank
  4. (AVOID) VSV Corner

Our favorite coworking space in Hanoi is Toong

Source: TOONG Facebook

Toong coworking spaces are a massively popular chain for many good reasons. Their areas are spacious and have lots of natural sunlight. The interior designers did an amazing job, as well. The work stations are modern, elegant, and full of plants. Every room is colorful and gallery-like.

The working space is located in a high-end building with both office and living spaces. Because of that, the building complex features amenities like a gym, swimming pool, library, and more. Toong Embassy is one of the rare spaces that work on Sunday, as well. The only downside might be the off-center location in the north of the city.

CoGo Viet Tower

Source: CoGo Facebook

CoGo is another famous chain of coworking spaces in the city, with (soon to be) five offices in total. CoGo’s home in Viet Tower, Hanoi, takes up a stunning 3,300 square meters. The area is spacious and airy, and it offers great views of the city from all sides. It has everything you expect from a high-end office space. There are plenty of desks or smaller offices to choose from at a reasonable price. It also hosts plenty of learning and community events. The building itself offers accommodation, so you can work and live in one place.

UP @VPBank

Source: Up-Co

This facility is part of the UP Coworking Spaces chain. It is located on the 21st and 22nd floor of the luxurious VPBank Tower. The modern office spaces have an inspiring “I made it” vibe because the building and equipment are so state-of-the-art. The space offers some awesome, unique additional features, such as a swimming pool, trampoline, a podcasting room, and more. There are plenty of social and learning events hosted in the building, and it has a dedicated TEDx host space. Other utilities include on-site parking, personal lockers, kitchen, and more. The only issue you might have with Up-Co is that, with such a high-end space, the prices are a bit inflated, especially when it comes to food and entertainment in the surrounding area.

Avoid VSV Corner

Source: VSV Facebook

There are multiple things wrong with VSV Corner. For one, the official website is “under construction”, despite the place being operational since 2017. The place also has no official social media where you can scout them out. It doesn’t offer anything worth mentioning, and mostly relies on the reputation of the Vietnam Silicon Valley, where the space is located. This gives false promises that you’ll find many new leads for your career and business. Although they do have conference rooms and private office spaces in the building, they aren’t listed as for rent.

We can assume they’re only used for private arrangements. The location is fine, but there are plenty of amazing and developed coworking spaces nearby, not to mention that, since this is a major business hub, prices for space are not competitive. Nearby entertainment and food prices can also be massively inflated.

Best (and worst) coworking spaces in Ho Chi Minh

Ho Chi Minh City, commonly known as Saigon, is the largest and most populated city in Vietnam. It is home to nearly 8.5 million citizens when rounding up all municipalities. It is estimated that as much as 25% of the city’s population are foreign workers, mostly from other Asian countries. Here are the coworking spaces to know about:

  1. The Hive Thao Dien
  2. Dreamplex Dien Bien Phu
  3. Wor.Kafe
  4. (AVOID) WeWork E. Town Central

Our favorite coworking space in Ho Chi Minh city is The Hive Thao Dien

Source: The Hive Facebook

The Hive is our first mention in Ho Chi Minh City. The interior is elegant and mostly made of wood, making it feel more natural. The Hive Coworking spaces can be found across Asia and overseas, including in cities like:

  • Melbourne
  • Bangkok
  • Hong Kong, and more.

Your membership status and perks can be carried over to those places as you travel for work. Being a multinational company, the staff speaks proper English. It’s no surprise that non-local workers quite prefer their spaces. The Hive strives to not just be a place of work, but also a community. When you’re not working, you can enjoy the in-house relaxation room, swimming pool, and rooftop terrace. The only drawback is that the location is slightly off the city center, across the Saigon Bridge 1.

Other coworking spaces to check out in Ho Chi Minh

Dreamplex Dien Bien Phu

Source: Facebook Dreamplex

The Dreamplex brand has three coworking spaces in Ho Chi Minh City. All of them are highly recommended, but our favorite one is Dien Bien Phu. The location is great, being just outside major central city areas. The interior is creative and colorful, and the three floors it covers offer plenty of space.

It also houses a state-of-the-art auditorium where events, such as TEDx talks take place. Brand members also enjoy perks with their brand’s sponsors. This includes things like special discounts at certain food and entertainment places, among other things.

The price is also worth mentioning, as it’s competitive compared to similar spaces. If there’s one drawback, it’s the corporate-like working hours. If you prefer a flexible schedule, as opposed to regular nine-to-five, you should pick another place.

Wor.Kafe

Source: Wor.Kafe Facebook

As the name cleverly suggests, Wor.Kafe is a work-friendly cafe designed with coworking and comfort in mind. The cafe is located on the ground floor and serves as a part of the ta.maison Boutique Hotel. This makes it a great meeting place for coworkers, and even a long term stay option for remote workers and expats.

This place is ideal for those who don’t require too much office space and enjoy a more laid back, social dynamic. Since the space is oriented towards working, you won’t have to worry about any regular cafe distractions, such as rude customers, loud music, and inefficient workspace.

Although smaller than many other coworking spaces, the place manages to pack quite a few designated rooms. It even has a TEDx community space on site. The location is a pleasant commercial area, in the dead center in the city. The only downside is that the price is noticeably higher than other equally good spaces.

In Ho Chi Minh, we recommend you avoid WeWork E. Town Central

Source: Facebook WeWork

WeWork E. Town Central supposedly has everything you might need, but, unfortunately,  it doesn’t. Although there’s plenty of space, there aren’t too many rooms to make use of. The policy of only being able to rent on a monthly basis is ridiculous. Who wants to risk paying one month upfront and not liking it? That’s awful for those looking for short-term solutions. Then again, those looking to settle for longer periods can find better offers elsewhere.

The prices are through the roof compared to other places. The only positive note is that it’s accessible 24/7. Everything else can be found in other places, but either better or cheaper.

Best (and worst) coworking spaces in Da Nang, Vietnam

For those looking to avoid crowded cities, overflowing with tourists and foreign workers that just rack up the prices, Da Nang is the place to be. The small (for Asian standards) coastal city is not only expat-friendly, but it’s also home to some of the top beaches in Vietnam. This makes it ideal for those looking to escape from winter in the western hemisphere and enjoy working in their extended summer.

The public transportation is at a decent level, and Da Nang has its international airport, making for good inner and outer city connections. Here are the noteworthy coworking spaces:

  1. Danang Coworking Space (DNC)
  2. TOP Coworking Space
  3. Enouvo Coworking and Coliving Space
  4. (AVOID) IoT Space

The best coworking space in Da Nang is DNC (Danang Coworking Space)

Source: DNC Facebook

Danang Coworking Space takes the number one on our list. Its offices are spacious, well-lit, and the high ceilings and good air conditioning keep the rooms cool. The interior design is colorful and vibrant, but not overdone.

The location is great, close to the river Han. The bridge nearby makes both sides of the city easily accessible. There are plenty of rental options, and the prices are fair when compared to other options nearby. The space is also home to both social and educational events for its members. The ambiance is youthful, both staff and visitors speak proper English, and there’s plenty of room to grow your social and working network.

TOP Coworking Space

Source: TOP Facebook

Our second choice is TOP Coworking Space. There are plenty of positive things we can say about it:

  • Free underground parking with security 24/7
  • Backup generator assisting against power outages
  • Relaxation and entertainment rooms
  • Fully equipped kitchen
  • Personal lockers

The office setting is colorful and spacious, and there are lots of options to choose from. Compared to similar spaces, the pricing is great. TOP also has lots of community activities, such as workshops, gathering events, and even a dedicated sports team. The only issue with this space is the working hours, as it’s only open until 5:30 pm and doesn’t work on weekends.

Enouvo 2 Coworking and Coliving Space

Source: Facebook Enouvo Space

Enouvo has two coworking facilities within a few minutes from each other. Their facility on Ta My Duat Street is worth checking out, but it’s the An Nhon Street facility that really puts Enouvo on the map. Enouvo 2, as it’s known, houses both coworking and coliving spaces, making it fully equipped for every form of remote living and working. The building has important living necessities, such as:

  • Private rooms
  • Showers
  • Laundry room
  • Gym
  • Free parking
  • Social events

The location is also convenient and central. On-site, you will find plenty of additional services such as projectors, private lockers, equipped photo and video studio, extra monitors, and similar.

If you’re in Da Nang, avoid IoT SPACE

Source: IoT Facebook

Seeing negative reviews always feels bad, especially when a place looks promising on photos. That’s the issue with IoT SPACE. There are plenty of positive things to stay:

  • Modern office area
  • Comfortable chairs
  • Good tables
  • Lots of natural light

That being said, all the benefits we could list are honestly more or less what is expected of a modern-day coworking space. Some people have raised genuine concern with hygiene, maintenance, and distracting noises coming from the rest of the building.

Another worrying trend is that great customer reviews seem to be older, while the negative ones are more recent. It doesn’t help that the prices are not competitive either. For example, TOPCo, which is #2 on our list of good spaces, is only a few blocks away. There are just better options out there.
